About Us

Silver Fox Outfitters is a member of the Alberta Professional Outfitters Society and is licensed, bonded and insured. We are “North American Hunt Club” NAHC recommended and have a high percentage of repeat hunters; we are very proud of both these points. Silver Fox Outfitters has been operating since ’96 and was incorporated in 1998.

Eric Rauhanen

A top Alberta Outfitter-Guide, Eric has been guiding professionally since 1988. He is an experienced bow hunter and a member of the Pope & Young Club having taken P & Y class Black Bear, Whitetail Deer, Antelope and Mule Deer. Eric’s guided hunts are not only enjoyable but a personal learning experience. His hunters are very successful and always satisfied.

Guides

Our policy is to provide the best in personal attention and safety. We allow only two hunters per guide and even offer one-on-one hunts for the hunter who is intensely after a color phased or exceptionally large trophy. All our guides are experienced bear hunters and are extremely motivated. They’re there because they want to make your hunt a success.

Equipment

Silver Fox Outfitters maintains a complete fleet of ATV’s and a jet boat to get you to your bait site. For our bow hunters we have a tree stand with a 3-D bear target as well as a string making jig, arrow fletching jig and a bow press.

Trophy Preparation

Our guides ensure all game is properly skinned and prepared for your taxidermist. We also have locally recommended taxidermists. He provides a valuable service for those clients wishing to have their trophy prepared here. We’ll provide his information and a reference list to all clients.

Location

Our bait hunting area is located near the remote town of High Level in the beautiful boreal forest area of northwestern Alberta (WMU 534, 535, and 536) We spot and stalk hunt in non-baiting areas (WMU 537) south of High Level as well as in the west central area of Alberta near the town of Edson (WMU 340, 342, and 346).

Family

Over the years we’ve had many hunters bring their wives or a family member with them. All enjoyed every minute of their time here in game rich Alberta & many are on our reference list. We encourage hunters to bring a guest with them. After all, this is an experience of a lifetime. The cost of having a family member along is very reasonable.

Accommodations

Hunters are accommodated at either one of the main tent camps or remote spike camps; this depends on which hunt the hunter chooses. Tent camps consist of large wall tents with wood stoves and comfortable cots. The main camp has shower facilities.

Meals

All on-site meals are prepared in our main camps by our full-time cook. If you have any special dietary requirements, please let us know in advance so that we can ensure these items are available.

Transportation

Your hunt includes all on-site transportation. You will be picked up at the airport in High Level upon arrival, transported as required to hunt and returned to High Level for your trip home. Other options for getting to bear camp include renting a car and driving from Edmonton.

Videos Made

In ’08 we had Tom Nelson of the TV show “AMERICAN ARCHER” taped an episode with us. A copy of this episode “#215 Experience Alberta” is available from Dead Down Wind/Wolf Creek Inc, you can get a copy by calling 1-888-311-wolf or visiting www.wolfcreekinc.com (link is external). Several the older “Bear Facts ll with Bow & Arrow” by Eagles View Productions. This video is available from Cabela’s or your local hunting video retailer.

Dates

The spring bear season in Alberta opens April 1st and runs until June 15th. We normally start our hunts the 1st full week of May because of snow volumes. Let me know if special arrangements are needed.

Licenses

License fees are not included in the basic cost of the hunt.

Hunt Guarantee

We are so confident in our hunting areas and our guides that we offer a performance guarantee. Any hunter paying full price and hunting the recommended one on one hunt, who doesn’t get a shooting opportunity can come the following year and repeat the same hunt for half price.

Other Options

A healthy wolf population exists in our hunting area. A wolf license can be added to your hunt. SFO also offer the recommended one-on-one hunt. The guide can remain with hunter to take video, etc.

CANCELLATION

The deposit is transferable to another hunt up to 180 days prior to the hunt date. After this date the deposit is non-refundable / non-transferable unless a replacement hunter is found.
